Synopsis
Mayak is trying to make a name for himself in underground strip cartoons. He is drawing a story called Azad (“freedom” in Armenian), a project that tells the tale of his grandfather’s attempt to flee Turkey in 1915 to escape the Armenian genocide. It’s an opportunity for Mayak to reacquaint himself with his roots and get closer to his family. But then a young Kurdish girl named Mina enters his life and his innermost convictions are shaken to the core. In fact Mayak is convinced that she is denying the memory of the Armenian people. And yet, like him, his new flatmate has a few scores to settle with the past.
